Who says learning can’t be fun? The Adventures of Marvin the Manicou is a Caribbean-based children’s book series that promotes content from Trinidad and Tobago through fun and creative learning. It follows the adventures of Marvin the Manicou who is a mischievous critter from the twin isle. In the Far From Home instalment, Marvin decides to play a prank on his family which goes terribly wrong when he loses them in the forest. In a bid to find them, he ventures off into the woods where he meets several other characters who help him find his way.
The characters in the story are modelled after animals found in Trinidad and Tobago. The key characteristics of each animal are presented as funny quirks and behavioural traits, which make them even more memorable to young readers. In addition to educating young readers on local wildlife, Marvin’s story also teaches children the value of listening to their parents and thinking about the consequences of their actions before they act.
